I combined two of my favorite piano playing characters for today’s character of the day: Favorite Muppets character Rowlf, and the Peanut’s character Schroeder. I also have a soft spot for Miss Piggy.
A silly little comic I made as a thank you to the absolutely wonderful crew of Wander Over Yonder for an amazing summer interning on their show. It was a real treat! Thank you so much, guys!
So Disney is putting out a new album called Dconstructed, which will feature dubstep/house/Euro remixes of songs from their classic and recent movies.
The Muppets will be featured in the form of a mix by Shy Kidx. And, uh, it’s not very good, for a lot of reasons. I don’t care if you like house/dubstep music: this song has removed anything that could’ve thematically-connected it to The Muppet Show (instrumentation, pitch, beat, memorable quotes) in favor of a song that’s, I guess, about nightmares.
Is it possible to produce a good Muppet-themed remix that’s both danceable and evokes the mood of The Muppet Show? Well, I’ve got a few choices up my sleeve. I suggest you listen to these instead:
- Dr. Cat and DJ Pony: “Can The Frog Tapdance?" (an electroswing version of The Muppet Show Theme)
- DJ BC’s Muppet Mashup album, which features “The Muppet Strut” (a mash-up of The Muppet Show Theme and Stray Cat Strut by The Stray Cats, “Scooter & The Computer Worms,” an electric remix of “There’s a New New Sound,” in addition to a ton of Sesame Street mixes)
- MrSCHLIEMINATOR: "The Muppets Remix": a simple-yet-effective send-up of Mahna Mahna
- Pogo’s “Muppet Mash”: While this is Sesame Street-themed, Disney’s worked with POGO in the past, and his stuff is great at capturing the feel of the original series
There’s definitely more of these out there, but this is just what immediately came to mind. It mystifies me that Disney would choose to take things in such a weird direction!
Anyway, check these out. You’ll enjoy all of them.
Why in the hell is everyone calling themselves Groot. I’m Groot he’s Groot we’re GROOT
ARE THERE ANY OTHER GROOTS I SHOULD KNOW ABOUT
Can we just take a moment to look how much PnF backgrounds improved?
Speaking of which:
Look at this image from Flop Starz (Season 1, Episode 3)
And then look at this image from The Klimpaloon Ultimatum (Season 4 Episode 38)
Amazing improvement in background and audiences!

I am so convinced that the people at Toyota just told the Muppet crew to do whatever they wanted, so long as they filmed the Muppets driving the Highlander, and Bill and Steve were hungry and decided to use this commercial as an excuse to go get some food.
YOU CANNOT CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE.
”It took me 10 years to be ready for this. I’ve got a pretty good foundation of friends and family that will always keep me grounded no matter what. But I don’t think I would have been ready for it 10 years ago. So I’m really happy with the way it worked out. You need to learn how to do this. You need to learn how to keep your cool, learn how to be a leader on set, learn how to act. F—-, I still know I’ve got a ton to learn. It’s all a learning experience. I’m going to school every day.” [x]
